The module is part of the WACO bus system. It is used for data transmission between the WACO radio network and the “Slave” device on the local two-wire bus according to the M-BUS standard.

As can be seen from the figure, the WM868-MM2-LP-H module is always the Master of the “remote bus segment” and provides communication between “its” M-Bus segment and the main virtual WACO segment. The module receives messages (“queries”) from the WACO radio network and forwards them to the local bus, in the opposite direction it receives messages (“answers”) from local “Slave” devices (meters, sensors) on the bus and forwards these messages via the radio network WACO and the main bus segment “Master” bus. Data transfer takes place in an application of the “Virtual BUS” type, where data messages are transmitted over the radio network completely transparently, no data conversion takes place.

The module is enclosed in a plastic box adapted for mounting on a DIN-rail. The module requires an external 24 V DC supply. Up to 8 “Slave” devices with unit consumption according to the M-Bus standard can be connected to the WM868-MM-LP-H module. The module is not suitable for placement in an outdoor environment without additional coverage.

The modules are most often used in applications of M-BUS type bus systems, which are widely used especially in the field of remote reading of consumption meters (“metering”, “smart metering”).
