The WM868-MS-LP-H module is used for data transmission between the WACO radio network and an M-Bus Master device connected to a local two-wire bus according to the M-Bus standard.
The WM868-MS-LP-H modules are most often used in applications of M-Bus systems, which are widely used especially in the field of remote metering of consumption meters (“smart metering”). The WM868-MS-LP-H module is used for data transmission between the WACO radio network and an M-Bus Master device connected to a local two-wire bus according to the M-Bus standard. The principle of using the module in the M-Bus system is shown in the figure.
As can be seen from the figure, the WM868-MS-LP-H module is connected to the main segment of the M-Bus type, in which the bus control unit – the “Master” type device – is located. Remote bus segments are equipped with WM868-MM, WM868-R4, or WM868-IR radio modules. The WM868-MS-LP-H module receives inquiries from the bus control unit (“M-Bus Master”) about the status of the “Slave” device variables in the remote segments and forwards these queries to the WACO radio network. Radio modules in remote segments receive these queries from the radio network and forward them to their local buses. Individual “Slave” devices respond to queries via the local bus and the local radio modules forward the responses to the WACO radio network. The WM868-MS-LP-H radio module receives responses from the WACO radio network and forwards them via the master bus to the “master” bus. The data transfer takes place in an application of the “Virtual BUS” type, where the data messages are transmitted over the radio network completely transparently, no data conversion takes place.
The module is enclosed in a plastic box adapted for mounting on a DIN-rail and is not suitable for placement in an outdoor environment without additional cover. The module requires an external 24V DC power supply.
